IQ, short for intelligence quotient, is a measure of a person’s reasoning ability. In short, it is supposed to gauge how well someone can use information and logic to answer questions or make predictions. IQ tests begin to assess this by measuring short- and long-term memory. They also measure how well people can solve puzzles and recall information they’ve heard — and how quickly.

Does IQ Really Measure How Smart You Are?

IQ Types

Verbal Intelligence

Verbal Intelligence is the ability to analyze information and solve problems using language-based reasoning. Language-based reasoning may involve reading or listen to words, conversing, writing, or even thinking.

Spatial Intelligence

Spatial intelligence, or visuo-spatial ability, has been defined "the ability to generate, retain, retrieve, and transform well-structured visual images" (Lohman 1996). It's what we do when we visualize shapes in our "mind's eye." It's the mental feat that architects and engineers perform when they design buildings.

Logical Intelligence

The ability to analyse situations or problems logically, to identify solutions, to conduct scientific research, and to solve logical/mathematical operations easily. It is one of the eight multiple intelligence types proposed by Howard Gardner
